Introducing the 2014-15 Team and Schedule

Hello Stanford Golf Fans,

Another great year of Stanford Golf is just around the corner for the women's golf team. After a record breaking year in 2013-14, we can't wait to get started and see what this years team has in store for us.

Let me introduce you to our two incoming freshman:

Shannon Aubert was born in Annecy, France but has resided in Florida for the past 8 years. She has significant international playing experience as well being a three time Rolex All-American. She has qualified and competed in the US Open twice as a junior and currently ranks #25 in the world.

Calli Ringsby comes to Stanford from Cherry Creek, CO. She has won almost every Colorado junior tournament and high school event on the calendar, including: CO Junior Strokeplay Championship, CO Junior Matchplay Championship, CO High School State Champion and CO Player of the Year. Nationally she finished top-20 at the Canadian Amateur, qualified for six-straight Junior World Championships and finished 5th at the Junior Americas Cup. She is a multi-sport athlete who also played goalie on boys ice-hockey team.

We begin our fall with a trip to the Annika Invitational in Florida. The top-12 teams in the country have been invited to participate in what many believe will be the toughest field of the year. The traveling team will be decided after a qualifying tournament of five competitive rounds beginning this Thursday at Cordevalle, followed by rounds at Stanford G.C., Sharon Heights C.C. and Pasatiempo G.C. These courses will undoubtedly challenge the players on every shot!

The rest of our schedule can be found at: http://www.gostanford.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30600&SPID=127010&SPSID=789714&DB_OEM_ID=30600

Our fall event will be October 17th - 19th, with tee-times beginning at 8:30am. As always, we rely on volunteers to have a successful event. Hopefully some of you reading this will sign-up to volunteer for scoring, shuttle driving or ball-spotting.

Thank you again for the terrific support. Winning the Pac-12 Championship in 2013-14 will be very difficult to top this year but we certainly plan to give it a go!! Follow our season at www.gostanford.com

Post-Season Begins

The spring season always flies by in the sport of golf. We play five events in the space of seven weeks and before we know it, it is POST-SEASON! We had a strong spring campaign with two team victories and one individual victory. Freshman Casey Danielson and sophomore Lauren Kim have blossomed into two of the nations finest players and both have narrowly missed out on individual tournament titles.

During the regular season, we have traveled as far east as Hilton Head, S.C. and as far west as Kona, HI! We have played in 35 degree temperatures (Hilton Head, S.C.) and 80 degree temperatures (Tempe, AZ). We have won three tournaments by as many as 21 shots over ranked teams and at the same time, we have taken some tough losses that have given us much to work on. It has been an another successful regular season that leaves us ranked #4 nationally by Golfweek and #10 by Golfstat (April 17, 2014).

We have three underclassman ranked inside the top-40 in the country - Mariah Stackhouse #9, Lauren Kim #18 and Casey Danielson #36. They are all candidates for the 2013-14 WGCA All-American team and with strong finishes in the upcoming weeks, hopefully that will become a reality.

Mariah Stackhouse has continued to lead our team this year not only through her great play in college but also at the national level. She was recently named to the 2014 U.S. Curtis Cup team. The event will be played at St. Louis C.C. on June 6 - 8, 2014. More information can be found here:  http://www.2014curtiscup.com/

The Pac-12 Championship is up next for the women's golf team. We will compete at Trysting Tree G.C. in Corvallis, OR on April 25 - 27. Immediately following the tournament, the NCAA Selection Committee will decide and announce the Regional Selections and we will begin preparation for the NCAA Regional Championship course.

It is a busy time of year for our players and coaches. We will travel five of the next six weekends and the players will work extra hard to maintain their good grades and academic commitments.
